FRONT COVER TASK 8 (1)

TASK 8 PROFRESS

I needed to change the background and the masthead as it looks very mainstream and not unique enough for my liking.

I decided to change the background to grey background. I made it white in the centre by using the gradient tool. the background did not fit into the magazine I was trying to portray so I decided to change it.

I decided to change the background black and white. I used the shape tool and made stripes of black with it. Making this background had a downside because now I was not able to see the masthead clearly.

I decided to change the colour of the mast head to pink and I highlighted it with black changing the opacity so you can see the pink masthead behind it.

I decided to make the font pink and white because it fits into the background and it also goes with the picture and genre. I did not have enough space for making the main masthead clear and big because of the picture placement which is right in the middle. So I decide to make the main mast head right in the middle.

This is my finished piece of magazine. Finally overcoming every problems.

Concept:

The concept behind my shoot was to present the artist in a new and exciting way where it will appeal to different target audience. My genre is hip hop and RnB so my artist/model had to appear accordingly to the genre. I made my model wear a ring but only one as I did not want to appeal to everyone. I didn’t want the audience to think that it was a hard-core rap/hip-hop magazine. So I restricted my model/artist to wear too much bling.

I have chosen this picture above for my front cover.I have chosen this because I felt like I could fit my magazine masthead, coverlind and everything else around it. Also another reason why i have chosen this is because the pose it really quinque and the both of his hand are in a pocket near his belly. This style are now trending so it will apply to my target audience.

Positive

I have learned that most people would buy my product as it is very cheap and it is well worth the money because it is 40-50 pages long depending on the issue. My classmate agree that I covered all the main points and overall the feedback were negative.

Negative

there is no significant amount of error but one of my classmate pointed out that i should have included my flat plan in the power point presentation.

conclusion

overall i am happy with the power point and how it went. Also I feel good moving to the next step as i believe that i barely have errors.

Do not stand too close to the backdrop because it will mess up the images
turn off all the lights when taking picture
You can adjust the intensity of the light by adjusting the numbers on the back of the lights
Everything is remote controlled
We use Nikon D7000s which have 17 million mega pixels, which ensures that no desaturation takes place. The zoom length ranges from 18-105. It also has a 3.5 LCD.
There are also an option to put up a black background if needed

There is a goodox plugged into the lights, which you push to flash.

I had 3 choice of colour scheme. My first choice of black, drak green and blue. My second choice of colour scheme is grey white and red. The final choice of my colour scheme was black white and pink. i have decided to go for my third colour scheme as my magazine is called mixr and one of the reason behind calling it that is I want to reach all people and entertain them with my magazine. Diversity is represented by my colour scheme.

The price for my magazine is £1.99 as I want it to be affordable so the buyers get think they have paid well for their money. I have also used physiological pricing so it will make the buyers think it is less than £2 but in reality its only 1pcheaper.

Genres

I have chosen rap and rnb as my genre of music. This genre of music is exciting and there is always new things artist do to amaze the audience. So my magazine is based on the different types of hip-hop and rnb artist. I feel like where there is variety and diversity there will also be more audience and it will expand the genre creating more competition.

Target audience

My target audience are mainly 15-30 males and females. I have a wide range of audience because a lot of people like to listen to rnb and rap. . Most of my audience will have access to computers and internet. So another thing my magazine will be is modern and focused on technology.

Distribution methods:

I will distribute my magazine through the World Wide Web and also I will distribute by publishing it. The buyers can also buy also subscribe to my magazine this means that they buyer will get every issue of the magazine and it will be posted to the address.

I visited my local store Tesco to find the magazine. i found that magazine that are known are usually eye level. Another thing that i realized is that a lot of Asain magazine are at the top and eye level because east London is a Asain dominated area people prefer to read Asain magazines. this is why Asain magazine are eye level. As i moved through out the newsstand I realized that most magazines are placed by their genre. So all music magazine will be together, making it easier for the buyer to navigate and find what he/she is looking for. Dominant magazine within the genre are always eye level as it increases the sale. Because the consumer dose not have to spend time looking for it also big bands have reputation, which will instantly attract the reader. Music magazine which are not as popular as the dominant magazine tend to usually come with freebie to encourage the reader to buy it. they also have very unique and colorful fonts and images to attract the reader.They also use misleading language to draw the reader in. All the magazine are placed in a way which you can see the lower third of it. Because of the fact that all the main cover lines and freebies tend to be on the lower third. Another thing that caught my eye was that consumers are attracted more by picture and not text. So if an magazine has famous celebrity on its front cover. People will most like buy it because of the magazine star. But also less popular magazine have very pretty girls to draw men in. Magazine specially famous magazine uses fonts and masthead that are unique to their genre. They do this to divide their self from the other magazine and make it unique. So the next time you see it you will instantly recognize the font.

Front cover

From the feedback I have received about my work was that the font went well with the masthead. Also the image fills the front cover, which is a positive because it goes well with the font and the colour scheme. The colour scheme was red, black and white. I am told it goes well with it as it is very basic and it works well with the image and the front cover. Also in my opinion the Masthead which is “life@Lcs” is a very unique masthead just by the way it is written up. There is also a freebie which will attract the consumer into to buying the product. The magazine has a very good cover lines and the use of language attracts the reader while keeping it short and snappy. Masthead was appropriate for my magazine, as it is strong and it is the biggest text on the page and the text were very idiosyncratic however yet modish so it suit the intended interest group. The title of my masthead its called "Life@LSC" which sound very basic about calling it a collage magazine would be very basic. By calling it life@lsc makes it sound that the magazine will show and uphold student opinion and news. It also suggest that the magazine is not very cryptic. this is good because my magazine applies to young adults.

Content page

My content page is very bright and creative as people highly praised it. My content page was very well planned as I made sure I had enough room for the content, which will go around the image. the orange backdrop and the black text makes the content page come to life. I decided to write the numbers in bold white text to capture the reader’s attention. another thing that was very well was that the layout of the image and the pose.

Improvements

I think my front cover really needs improvement because I had a really negative feedback about it. “The font sizes seem way too big, but I think you could've changed the layout of the front cover and maybe added more teasers and information about the magazine itself. Where it states ' interview with LCS football team' you can't really see the word team so I think maybe change the colour or the positioning.” also my content page font size is really big so there needs to be more content on the content page.
